TARANG - The Esqube Audio Codec

TARANG is a new audio codec solution developed at Esqube patent pending.

The main features of TARANG are:

	Very low complexity encoding and decoding (small program memory footprint).
	Encoding speed - five times faster than real-time.
	Decoding speed - three times faster than real-time.
	Amenability to mixed signal processing in hardware.

The current research is aimed at:

	Increasing the compression factor for CD quality signal input.
	Improving upon the quality of signal reconstruction.
	Hardware implementation of TARANG.

The future versions of TARANG will include an ESQUBE Media Player, exclusively meant for decoding TARANG files.

Why use TARANG?

TARANG solves one of the toughest problems that the music industry is facing - that of music piracy. Music files in MP3 format have become very popular and are freely made available on the internet. As a result, though the consumer gains by way of acquiring `free-music', the music distributors are at a big loss! TARANG solves this problem effectively because it is a proprietary audio coding solution. The music encoded by TARANG can be decoded by TARANG decoders only. The consumer pays a nominal sum of money for every TARANG song. Thus, the consumer gets to listen to high quality TARANG music, the distributor gains from it and piracy can be controlled.

ESQUBE Music streaming solution

This is a new proprietary software streaming solution using the TARANG audio coding technology. The technology is potentially useful for internet or mobile music distribution.
